i'm new here and in debt like everyone else, can't believe the stories you always think you are the only one-anyway it almost does'nt seem worth paying these trolls known as debt collectors, when it seems at any given time they can still sue you and /or add more fees or simply do whatever they like. I almost want to say "take me to court" just to get it over with. anyone else feel like this?

Been there done that and have the judgements to prove it. The head in the sand approach or the "I don't care" attitude just doesn't work.

Read, read and read some more. Educate yourself on your rights as an American. You'll find after a short amount of time that you'll know more about the law than the phone monkeys that are calling you. Turn the tables on them and use your knowledge to mess with them!

Not all collectors are trolls nor are all collection agencies scams. There are thousands of reputable agencies and collectors out there going there job properly and making a good living out of it. You only hear about the bad ones online...no one posts their good experiences for the most part. Bill collecting is the oldest profession and if done properly, can be relatively painless, kind of like dentistry.

that is exactly right nascar and soaplady.i have in fact got all charged off credit cards off my report.some were places seen on these forums.got the dunning letter, the validation when requested, finally the PIF letter.it just does strike me odd that some of these places act differently depending on the debt.
example:NES yes that NES collected for TOTAL CARD.it was a smooth tranascation.this happened in march.fast forward to sept.i was on vacation.my brother took a call from yep NES about a pdl.was like all the other posters about NES.threats harrassment all in one call and to a person that they never even heard of before.he just told me about it yesterday as his AG complaint was resolved.my question is.how can the same CA
act differently for different debts?

I couldnt say exactly why they act differently, probably because its a different rep, and depending on the seriousness of the debt being collected. If you are looking for a solution to get rid of you debt without having to deal with these collectors I may have a solution for you. Its called a debt management Program, this is not a loan or a settlement. It is a program created by creditors themselves in order to recapture the original principle owed to them instead of risking loosing it, and at the same time allowing you to get out of debt about 75% faster while keeping your payments around the same, or in most instances, actually lowering the payment. This way, most of your payment will go towards your balance which will allow you to save a significant amount of time and thousands on interest. It works by making one simple payment that is distributed to all the creditors for you at lowered prenegotiated rates they are willing to offer you for being on the program. Being on the dmp, most creditors will give you the benefit of waiving late/overlimit fees, plus they will report your account in good standing so it will also help you rebuild your credit if you have deliquencies. Another great help from the DMP is the fact that you can direct all the collectors to the company handling your debts and they will deal with them for you. It is a win win solution that can lower your payment, save you thousands on interest, pay off your debt 75% faster, plus help your credit at the same time. Neither is there a need to pull credit or be within a certain Debt-to-Income ratio. If you would like to find out more about it, dont hesistate to contact me with any questions, ill be more than glad to help: email and phone deleted-paulmergel soliciting is prohibited per TOS rules.

I think we ALL want to forget about our debts. But, we can't do that. If I were you ( if possible..) I would call them up and see what arrangments you can make..if any. You can't just 'let it go'. The debt won't take care of itself.
