my 2 large debts (26,000) each got charged off end of september and now we begin with the collection agencies - redline recovery and client services. Client services started calling everyday aggresively I called Chase(orig cred) and faxed them a letter stating I did not want to deal with them. I haven't heard from them for weeks and nothing from Chase either. This kind of worries me. Redline called a few times have not heard from them in a week I sent them a letter to validate the debt just this week. My last payment to either acct was in May since we lost our house to foreclosure. I guess my question is this:
Do I try to still call the orig creditors and pay them something a month? Do I try to make a deal with the devil(coll agency) Do I do nothing and wait for the inevitable possibility of being sued.
I am lost and do not know what to do - any advice will be accepted sugar coated or not. Thank you

As with most 3rd party collections, they are placed with CA's under contract. The OC agrees to pay the CA for any funds received during a specific time period of placement. A lot of contracts also specify that the OC not intervene unless there is a serious and verifiable complaint. The fact that you do not want to work with a CA is irrelevant...in a lot of cases you just dont have a choice.

I would suggest trying to work with the CA.

My ex and I had a house. We divorced in 2003. He let the house got through foreclosure. There was a small second mtg with Chase, ( used to be Bank One) It was to have been paid in full when we took the new mortgage in 2000. Now they are calling me, I have no money & told them the house has been through foreclosure and it was done in a Sheriff's sale. I know there was paperwork from Bank one in 2000 showing paid, but since its foreclosed I have no access ot it and since I am divorced and haven't lived there in 6 years, will they just file foreclosure papers or what?
