United Processing harassing us--the family
Date: Mon, 11/03/2008 - 11:36
This morning at 7:09 a.m. United Processing called and woke me up. The guy asked for my husband, who wasn't home, and then proceeded to tell me he was looking for DH's sister. I explained that we hadn't had contact with her in over 7 yrs. and to please remove us from his list. He became irate, started yelling, said he would call me EVERY 15 mins. ALL day until we told him where SIL was. He said it was his right to harass me. I said if he did that I would have my attorney contact him. Thus far he has not called back but I doubt this is the last we've heard from him. It is the same guy who called us and harassed us back in Aug.
I want to know what we can do to stop the calls? We are not the ones they are looking for, we do not talk to SIL, and he has no right to call us at 7 a.m. or EVER and treat me the way he did. I am not okay with just letting the calls to go voicemail--I want them stopped. Is there a way to do this short of paying my attorney to write a cease and desist letter?
Thanks in advance!
P.S. They are also harassing my MIL and FIL as well and I'd like to help them if possible.
I'd be willing to bet he is the same guy from United Processing
I'd be willing to bet he is the same guy from United Processing that has been calling us since last month for my husband's late Aunt's husband. We've not seen him since she passed away 4 or 5 yrs ago. We were not even close with they when she was alive. This guy from UP has yelled at me, hung up on me, threatened that he was sending agents to our home to verify that this uncle by marriage does not live here. I am like you and FED UP! I too do not just want to ignore calls, it's not right that they can call here when we've done nothing wrong. Everytime he calls if I even try to respond with my own threats of FTC complaint, he speaks over me and hangs up. I'm sick of this!! Can't wait till you get a reply to see if there's something that can be done. I've filed a complaint online with FTC and I've started a complaint with my state's consumer affairs office, but they have required fields on the form that I have no clue about like the amount of the debt and when the debt occurred, etc. It feels so hollow to fill out these complaint forms because you know it's going to go nowhere.

y attorney would have these people for breakfast! There are multiple violations there. Problem may be in serving them as they may be located abroad. Do not take them seriously. You can't be arrested!
