What to do?

When I created my account, I did the free survey, and was contacted by the following companies:
Resqdebt
US Consumer Advocate
The Credit Exchange
Financial Solutions Legal Center
Still researching these companies, and I contacted Greenpath as well. I had to travel on business this weekend, so I hope to contact the companies in the next day or two. My debt situation is outlined below:
Capital One $500.00
Capital One $500.00
Capital One $500.00
Orchard $711.00
Juniper $716.00
Direct Merchants $1,000.00
Old Navy $1,020.00
Wal-Mart $1,050.00
Care Credit $1,200.00
Care Credit $1,200.00
CIT $2,100.00
CIT $2,400.00
Capital One $2,500.00
Bowflex $2,500.00
Lowes $2,500.00
Capital One $2,500.00
Household $2,800.00
JC Penny $2,900.00
Household $3,000.00
WAMU $4,000.00
Capital One $4,170.00
Direct Merchants $5,000.00
Beneficial $14,250.00
So I'm looking at about $60K, and the monthly payments are about $1,700. Add that to cars and mortgage + bills, and I'm drowning. I'm still current with them all, but it's to the point where I'm having to pay some late now, and I can't keep it up anymore. These are in my wife's name or mine, which is why there are multiple accounts from the same lendor. The though of not paying the bills and saving for a settlement is scary, but I don't know if credit counseling will be doable, since from my understanding your monthly payment doesn't change much. I'm trying to get rid of my wife's van, but it's upside down to such a large degree that I don't know if it's possible. There's a great strain on my family, and I just am not sure what to do. Any advice would be appreciated, and thanks to you all.

Hi Everyone,
It's been a couple of months now, and I'm starting to get calls from the CC companies. They've all been quite friendly, but I assume that would change the farther I get into this - I'm 2 payments behind now. I just got a call from GE Credit, who offered 40 month, 0%, no late fees on one card with a $1300 balance, which comes out to about $35/month. All the callers thus far have offered hardship plans. My payment history was perfect before this started, so I don't know if that has anything to do with it. Like many here I'm sure, this is a struggle. I want to pay off my debt - no one put a gun to my head to use these, after all - but I'm very worried about the economy and don't want to promise something I may not be able to deliver. The thought of settling for 60-70% is appealing, but if I could get these long term, 0% deals I must admit that would ease my conscience some. I'm calling Greenpath today about consolidation and see where that goes.
As always, and comments and advice are very much appreciated.

Kevinr,
All I can do is speak of the RESQDEBT plan. I know the company already contacted you, but maybe it is time to relook at things as you said. With creditors be careful is all I can say. I can???t speak in reference to what GE is offering. However, I can in relation to the company???s service.
Our settlement services deal with your balances directly. The company???s Negotiation team works countless hours achieving settlement offers for their customers. They average thousands of dollars in settlements a day. Some examples of their settlement results are easily viewed on our website under the Who We Are section > Satisfied Customers link.
We can defiantly help. Whatever you choose, work diligently and get out from under your credit card debt. Credit card debt only gets worse as time passes.
Please feel free to email me directly. I will personally make sure that your concerns are addressed.

i believe there are many posts on resqdebt in this forum check them out and read up before signing on with any company. The key here no matter how you go about it is to get out of debt. It will stink during the process but after its over you will be glad you did it. I used a debt settlement company and was pretty happy with the results alot of people here would recommend self debt settlement, but that was not the option for me. What ever you decided good luck in taking hold of your financial future!!!
