So does this mean the letter I have they sent which I am sure is the same as they send to everyone offering a settlement would not help me in the event the company screwed me as proof against them?Well I was going to send a validation letter but if they validate the entire amount I am afraid they will take back their offer. If I call and speak to them I am afraid they will again take back their offer and say I agreed to the debt and update my credit report. But then after seeing the sample letter I am afraid if I do pay based on this standard company settlement offer letter and they screw me it will not really be of any help in the matter. What to do?Why do I worry about a2 of these things happening, cause they have to me already. One company I called and said I would settle and they agreed but never sent letter and instead updated my credit report and restarted the SOL and then sued me!! The other when I called regarding a settlement offer they sent was a way to get me on the phone and yell at me and then take back their offer. I am trying to take care of this debt but got to wtch my back cause these illegal tactics the collection agencies use and just not sure what to do.Frustrating I want to send them money and worry about sending it to them!! That is pretty bad!!

What does your letter say? Do they agree not to try to collect the balance at a later date or sell the balance to another CA? It needs to be signed. Don't pay them a dime until everything is in writing and signed by a manager of the company!! BTW, How did the other company restart the SOL? Someone had to make a payment on your account to do that.
