I defaulted on a cc in Texas (i live in florida now) in 2002, when I moved here i moved around a little before I rented a place.
During this time Asset sued me for 1800.00 in 2006 (in florida) for that old debt. When I pulled it up in my county where I live now, they had an address I had only been at a few weeks (got my DL while there) I didn't know about it until I bought a car last year. (sept 2007) I still got the car but I have a judgement now, got laid off, now i can't get a decent job. debt was accrued in texas maybe past the sol. It's real close. Any way to fight this or am i just screwed?

I never got the mail, subpeona whatever they have to give me in order for me to show, it was my nephews address, he is in prison now, he never told me he accepted anything for me............

If the judgement was granted in Texas and you are now a resident of FL, they would first have to domesticate the judgement to FL. Google UEFJA for details on what would have to transpire. SOL on judgements in TX is 10 years and can be renewed for another 10. Not sure about FL SOL on judgements but here are some links:
