Here's my dilemma---my mom has a Cap1 card that she is unable to pay on, it has gone to Alliance One for collection. My mom is 79 years old, receives $450 in Social Security, has no assets, no savings, nothing. I had been trying to help her pay on it (balance is 6,000), but we were unable to keep up (my name is NOT on the account).

Anyway it is now with Alliance One and they said they won't take payments.

I know if she were working they would garnish wages, but what can they do if someone has nothing to take?

Thanks

they can get a judgement, but i don't see how they can do anything to really collect on this.i mean as far as enforcement
goes.

If she doesn't work and has not real assets they can't take anything.

To the OP, my mom is also 79, got herself in a mess with money last few years. We have told all her creditors she has nothing, only SS, she has no savings, doesn't own a home. We moved her, changed her phone#, and we give no one her information, just so they don't call and upset her. They are out of luck!

Okay, let me get this straight---so if I send them a C&D CMRRR letter and state that she is 79 years old with no assets, etc. except for her SS they have to stop and then they can if they choose to, sue? Don't they investigate before they sue, like if she had assets or anything?
