I'd like to know what I should do, from sending my initial letter (and how it should be worded) to the second rebuttal letters.
Any help would be AWESOME! Thanks!

1. Make 2 copies of your credit report. Keep one in a safe place. Use the other to mark up and make notes.
2. Go through your mark up copy and circle everything that is past your state's statute of limitations (you can google state debt SOL)
3. Write debt validation letters to those you circled, also refer to any collection laws your state offers if they offer more then the federal laws do. Make sure you send these letters certified mail, return receipt. Also make sure these letters have limited cease & desist sections which limits the CA to contacting you only through the mail system. You can google 'debt validation letter.' to find many samples, use one and tailor it to your situation.
4. When you get confirmation that they have gotten your letter, dispute that account with the 3 credit reporting agencies. If the CAs verify the account, they have violated the law.
5. If the CAs start to call or send collection letters, keep all contact. Record the calls if you are able (make sure you live in a 1 party state else you have to say something like, "I am recording this call, if you do not wish to be recorded then hang up now. By continuing this call you are giving your permission for this call to be recorded." Every time they attempt to collect from you after you have DVed them, they violate the law further.
6. After some time has passed and they have racked up violations and have not provided validation, then you can send an intent to sue letter, explaining that since they can't validate the account, they must remove it from your credit report or you will be forced to sue them.
7. If they don't remove it, sue them.
For any who can actually validate the account, then you can begin settling these debts.
