How can I identify CA from a phone number?

I do not answer telephone calls from collection agencies, ever. So they leave a lengthy recording but don't say who they are or what debt it is about. Just to call a certain number.
How do I find out who they are? If I know who they are, I can match that info up to the mail I get and see if I am already paying these people or not.
