Does anyone know if they will settle on payments. My debt is 7 mths old and has gone to their attorneys for debt collection. I tried to make arrangements with them and they said that I had to have at least 1400. for a downpayment to make payments. I said I didn't have it so they said consider myself served they are sueing me.


I don't think American Express will budge from their point. It's better to go for debt consolidation or debt management. Please go through the following threads which will help you to get an idea on American Express and dealing with them: -

not true, I owe AMEX 64k.., they offered $37k @120 days

NCO will settle....call several times to get the right person on the line. Your account s/b past 90 minimum...then do your best to make a legitimate offer and keep in contact with them. Avoidance likely won't work.
