Good Morning Everyone!!! I just wanted to check in and give you an update on my current situation! After talking to an attorney, I realized that there's no way I could afford the fees to file bankruptcy, so I called Western Kentucky Legal Aid, and they echoed just about everything I've learned on this website, with an additional twist! The guy explained to me that since I was essentially "judgement proof" (which I already knew), they reserve their services for clients who have assets that need protecting. I don't own my home, and the title to my car has a lien on it already. However, the phone calls from these pdl's are EVERYDAY! THANK GOODNESS FOR CALLER ID!!!! I have 5 loans from 3 different stores...so you know what that means! But thanks to all of you here, I can deal with it! They don't scare me now, and I know my rights!!! Thanks to everyone!!!! Oh! And one more thing! He did explain to me how these companies sometimes manage to get even social security funds from your bank account. Once the judgement has been entered, it's up to the creditor to file for a levy on your account. The bank will then notify you that they are freezing your account. Then YOU have to file a response. But the main thing is to SHOW UP!!! If you sit back and think, he said, that "oh they can't get my money"...then you're going to be surprised! The bank has to obey the court order, it's up to YOU to respond and prove that exempt funds are all that's in your account!!!!
