How can I convince my cc not to charge off my debt?
Date: Wed, 11/19/2008 - 09:11
I am trying to settle all my CC debt without the help of a settlement company. I have settled with 2 cards, but have many left. I am at the point they are all talking about charging off my debt. How can I convince them to keep my debt until I get the settlement money together? Thanks in advance.
Charge Off isn't really a choice for them. If the account goes
Charge Off isn't really a choice for them. If the account goes 180 days past due, GAAP dictates the account be charged off. At that point, you can never again bring the account current. It does not mean however, that they will immediately sell the debt. Who is(are) the creditor(s)?

I owe Bank of America, Capital One and Chase. I just got a collection letter on behalf of Capital One by NCO financial. If they have to charge it off then how do settlement companies spread your payments over 3 years and then settle your debts? Thx for your help
