Does debt settlement actually work?

Every debt settlement company has bad ratings with the BBB. Seems like debt management Programs (DMPs) are the only legit options. But with these the entire balance is paid back just with lower interest in 1 bill... as opposed to a negotiated lower settlement.

Please help!

NO-it is a rip off and the collectorscontinue to call you because the debt settlement company does not have enough of your money to settle the debts until you make alot of payments

Beenthere is wrong. Debt settlement does work. However there are a lot of bad companies out there so its important that you do your homework on the company or law firm you are considering hiring to settle your debts. Its not a bad idea to check them out with the BBB to make sure they have a solid track record and also see if they are members of TASC or USOBA. Or you always have the option of settling the debt on your own if you have the time and patience to do the dirty work.
