Wage Garnishment

My wife has been working with a debt consolidation company, Compass Credit, for about a year and a half now. She has been paying them $350/month during this time. I also gave her $3500 to add into the account. She can never get a hold of them on the phone and they don't return her calls. When she does call, they tell her that they are trying to settle her debts, and they have settled 3 of the smaller ones. Problem now is that her Citibank debt, which started at $2500 and now the collection agecny says is $9000, is being garnished from her wages and she can't afford to pay this Compass Credit. Does anyone have any advice? She hid this from me for a long time and I am not sure what to do.

If you cant get a hold of them and they won't return your calls I would file a complaint with the BBB. If that doesn't fix the problem file a complaint with your attorney general and TX attorney general and the FTC. You will find links to those places under my signature.

Well, even better news. Wife called today and Compass Credit no longer exists. All calls to them now go to some US debt settlement. We paid them $7500 and now they are gone? She said that 3 of her smaller debts were paid off, but she doesn't have any letter saying that they were discharged. Yay.... Fun.... I am so thrilled right now.

The guy she spoke to has some of her information, but he said that the records he has showed that she closed all the accounts that weren't paid off, which she NEVER did. He said he was going to do some checking to see where the money in the account went, but I am sure that it is being spent somewhere by the people in charge of Compass Credit.... :( But my wife got us into this mess, so I'll find us a way out...

Anyone have any info on this US debt settlement, LLC?

Well, just a little update. Compass Credit Services did indeed sell out to USA debt settlement. Only thing is, they took the $4100 in payments that we had given them as their "fee" and didn't settle anything (at least that's how it looks). So this US Debt is being very good so far about investigating. While this is oging on Citibank took $9300 out of my wife's account to cover their $8500 bill and yet they are still garnishing $250 out of her paycheck every two weeks? How can they do both? Any help or ideas would be appreciated. How do we go after Compass Credit for the so called "fees" that they took when they didn't do ANYTHING???
