Hi Guys --
I used one of your debt verification letters to send to a creditor. I understand they have 45 days to repsond. What do you do it they DON'T respond???? They're overdue now -- it's a collection account from a department store card that they SAY I owe about $2500. Please advise!!

Nothing says they have to respond....ever. However if they fail to verify the debt, they may no longer attempt to collect it.
But ...
But then how do I get it off my credit report? I've asked them to verify that it's mine and they just don't respond but keep it on my credit report violates the law. The letter I sent said they had 45 days to respond or get it off my credit report ...
