Hey all ~ I know it has been a while since I have really been on here, but it is just hard to find time to do what all I need to do any more now that school has started up. Do hope everyone is doing ok. I will give an update on things a little later on.

Normally I do not ask for money, (donation) from you all, but with the holidays coming, I am asking for your help, not for myself, but for some families in need.

Let me explain a bit....I am a member of another message board and every year a family is "adotped" and we get them gifts fosr the kids and parents along with helping with what we can. This year 3 families have been adopted and thre is a total of 12 kids plus the adults. We would like to help make their Christmas special and was wondering If youi all would like to help. I am not at my home computer where I get dig up all the details for you, but can do it if you all would like it. Please let me know if you would like to participate in helping ot make someone's Christmas a little brighter.

Thanks ahead of time......you guys are the best!!2

Karen

Thanks puddlejmpr for your donation. It is greatly appreciated.

Tania ~ If you would like to donate some points, that would be great and next week I will ask for my points to be cashed in. As soon as I can get the funds, then will get with the others involved in this and we will go shopping for these families and then wrap the presents. Now if you do not wish to donate points, when I get home this evening, I can get all the information as far as ages and such and if someone would like to send the gifts to me, please do not wrap, then I could give an address where to mail the gift. If someone wants to purchase something and want it to go to a specific family or person in that family, when the item(s) are mailed, please indicate that when they are mailed.

What I can tell you right now is that one of the families lost everything in a fire not too long ago and we had been donating household things to them to set up house again, so we have that all taken care of. Another family is a single parent. This is bad, but off the top of my head, I cannot remember the 3rd one, but do have the information at home.

I actually will be helping 4 families this year. My brother lost his job and is having a hard time finding another one. He did file for unemployment but you know it can take 4 to 6 weeks to get the first check. He feels about about it, but I told him that was what families were for.

Ok, here is the information about the families we are getting Christmas for, as promised:

Quote:

Okay my little elves! Here's the information that you've all been waiting for.

Now, this year we've chosen three families from THIS BOARD. I was going to just post all kids ages/sizes/etc as one big group, but people like to feel like they *know* who their giving to.

With this said, I need you all to respect the privacy of these families.

Please don't ask me who they are, please don't post your guess as to who you think they are, and please don't PM people and ask them if they are one of the families. It's not nice, and it really shouldn't matter.

Just know that they've been carefully screened and selected because they are in need and deserving, okay?

Family #1

Newly single mom w/ three kids

A boy, age 14-
Clothing-
white undershirts (t-shirts) would be good, size Adult M
jeans-Lee Husky 18, they are available at Kohl's. I think they are relaxed fit. He is pretty plain jane no bootcut or carpenter style, and does not like light colored jeans. Dark denim or faded black are his cup of tea.
shirts-he doesn't like alot of graphics, and those would be a size M/L in adults.

Wishes- He would like the new ACDC CD, and a giftcard for Play N Trade would be good as he already has some store credit there. He also has an Xbox, although I'm unsure of what games he has.

A girl, age 4-
size 5 in pants and a medium shirt. Socks shoes size 12, undies size 6 - bikini is what she prefers as she does not like stuff pulled up around her belly

A girl, age 2-
size 2T or 36 mos, socks shoe size 7.

Wish list for the girls-
dollhouse furniture and family (mom is restoring a dollhouse that was hers as a child, the rooms measure 9 inches tall, and the doors are 4 to 5 inches.)

The dollhouse has a living room, a foyer, a master bedroom, kids bedroom, kitchen, and bath. The girls LOVE horses and the girls both love Dora and Diego, Barbie, and of course animals esp reptiles and dinosaurs.

Family #2

A newly single dad, one child lives with him, the sibling lives with mom

Girl, age 13

Clothes-size 13-14 women's pants. She really only wears jeans. She does like the skinny jeans that are tight down to the ankle,She really will only wear sports type t-shirts and skateboard kind of shirts, she is starting to wear some with girl colors which look nice on her,She wears size 8 boys skateboard shoes or the checkered board/polka dot style slip ons etc

Wishes-Non named, not a girly girl, plays softball, likes sports

Girl, age 9

Clothes-size 16 pants and shirts in youth, misses or junior sizes,She is a girly girl and wears most anything most girls wear. Her shoe size is size 4 youth

Wishes-Typically 9 year old girly girl

Family #3-

Working class family, Dad works, Mom stays home with kids

6yo boy-- size 5 and size 11 shoe

8yo boy--size 7/8 and size 4 shoe

9yo girl-- size 4T and size 12 shoe

9yo boy--size 10 and has to have special shoes due to prosthetic and clubfoot.

13yo girl--size 8 women's and size 8.5 shoe women (very tall for her age)

19yo boy--size 30/31 pants, size med/lg shirts, shoe size 9 1/2 (going to college)

16yo girl--size 14/15 pants, size large shirt, size 10 shoes

Wishes-Board games
Decks of cards
Basketballs
Footballs
Soccerballs
Frisbees, jumpropes, hoola hoops, etc.
Skateboards (they all share 1 right now)
Arts and crafts supplies (construction paper, foam paper, glitter, etc.)
Jewelry making kits
movies (just no rated R)
music cd's (country and rock)
sewing machine

Now, I know that's a lot to process, and I know we've got a huge undertaking here, but we can and will do this.

Some of you are bargain shoppers and may have picked some things up over the past year that would be appropriate to give. Some of you will enjoy picking a child or a family and buying specifically for them, and some of you will just want to give cash/gift cards. Also, if you'd like to give new/very gently used clothing, that's fine too. But please, please make sure that it looks new.

All of the above is fine. I will provide my paypal address to anyone who prefers to give that way. Rest assured that every single penny will go to these families. Also, as a side note because I know that it's important to some, we don't give them cash. If we don't purchase things for them, we put any money on a gift card (walmart/foodlion/visa/etc) for them.

The deadline to get your stuff to me is Wednesday, December 17th

Dawnlango7 ~ thank you for your donation. It is very much appreciated.

I am bumping this up. Like I said before, I do hate to ask, but would really like to see these families have a good holiday. If you can help, it would be appreciated so much. If you cannot, that is ok too. I know things are tight, for everyone. I know for myself, I am not able to do a lot for everyone on this list, but will be giving what I can, along with the boy and girl we get off the angel tree and then a friend of ours is sponsoring a toys-for-tots Christmas party and my own family. I am thankful that my kids are the way they are...they are willing to forgo some of the things they may get to help these families.

Again, thanks so much for your help. Wish I could say or do more other than Thank you!!! But it is heartfelt.

Karen

I wish I could help, but I recently cashed inmy points, and am tight on cash. I,too, am helping some families this year. I got 4 families signed up with the Salvation Army-they have 4 kids and all of them will receive gifts, plus the parents will receive a "basket" of food, turkey, etc.

I also am helping my son and his family. He had a girlfriend and last year we bought preents for her two kids-it appears that they haven't had a Christmas in some years. Since then my son married her, so once again we are buying gifts. My son took a five dollar an hour cut in pay, so they are really starapped. It was pretty sad, I asked the kids what they wanted Santa to bring them, and they didn't even know of any of the new toys to ask for, and told me that they have to wait closer to Christmas to find out about Santa and if he's able to come--broke my heart.

We don't have alot, but I try to always help others, or at least get their names to the helping agencies so that the kids will at least get Christmas--Good Luck to you..karen

Karen ~ believe me I do understand and don't worry about it. Even when times have beenr ough for us, I have always tried to continue to give to a boy and a girl from the angel trees. Plus I do a lot of baking during the holidays and give away baskets of baked goods. Something we do every year. What you are doing should not go unnoticed either. You are doing something good as well. Your heart is in the right place (gee, must have something to do with the name Karen, huh? LOL) Good luck with your endeavor. God Bless.

Tania ~ received your gift. Thank you so much.

God bless all of you,

Karen

Guest ~ thank you so much for your interest in helping with this. I know you said you were on here occasionally, but if you would register and send me a PM, I will send you an address to mail any donations or pkgs, (plus registering you will be able to start earning debt points, which do add up and you can cash them in when you get $10 worth). With this being such an open forum, I am just not really comfortable putting the address on here.

Everyone, if you want to send something, please send me a PM and I will send you the address to mail things to. I am sorry for not feeling comfortable in posting the address here, as I am sure you can understand the why.

Again, I can not express my thanks to everyone for your help with this. God Bless!!!!

Karen

skydivr ~ I appreciate the points. I have cashed in the points and although I have not received my check yet, I went ahead and took what was donated and matched the amount that I received so far and went and got some things. From what I understand, these families are going to have a good Christmas. I am really excited about this. Thank you for the points.

I will give everyone a heads up, this is something we do every year. The group I am apart of adopts families that need help every Christmas. So next year, if you all are interested, I can post the information again.

Thanks again for everyone's help. We all thank you very much. You all have helped to make 3 families Christmas'..

I just wanted to update everyone on the Christmas Angels distribution:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Quote:

Well people, you did it again! And I can't thank you enough!

I tried to tally up all the monetary donations, plus toys/etc that were received. This year, Cub Scout Pack 24 out of Clayton also joined our efforts, and helped to sponsor our families.

Best I can figure, between what the Scout's did, and what we collected, we distributed somewhere newar $3200 to these families!

Holy cow you guys! That's awesome!

Thank you so much for your donations, these families really do appreciate it!

Merry Christmas and God Bless!

Thanks everyone for your help in making these people's Christmas great.
