Check into Cash coming on my JOB!!!
Date: Mon, 11/24/2008 - 14:11
I think this is a form of harassment. What can I do? This is a storefront loan in the state of Texas. He has no right to come on my job especially when I have asked him not too. Yes I'm behind on the loan but he still doesn't need to be showing up on my job like im going to pull out money right then and there.
Advise anyone.....
thanks...

He has every right and is expected by the company until you tell him not to. You state that he has been informed not to visit you employment, then call the corp office and they will stop it.

I spent many years with that company before I ventured out on my own. Regarding CIC, there will bo no one on this forum with more information. Call a store and ask them about Field Calls, that is the term they use.

PDL Owner is right - Field calls are not illegal.
You should put your request in writing and send it to both the branch office and the corporate office. That way it is documented that you requested him to stop coming to your job.
Another thing you can do - if you're cool with H/R or one of the "higher-ups" -- they can draft a letter on behalf of the company stating he is no longer allowed on company property and will be considered trespassing if he comes back. That should stop it for sure.
Preventing him from coming to your work won't solve the underlying problem, though. If there is an indebtedness owed to the company, you should make arrangements with them -- or else they may resort to a lawsuit.

Thanks guys...
Don't waste your time with a letter or dealing with the store, call 800-504-9101 and speak with Eric Johnson. He is the Reg VP for your area. CIC will generally error on the side of caution if you get that high on the "food chain".
Let me know what the outcome of your call is and then we can plan our next move if necessary.
check into cash coming on my job!!!
As a matter of fact, pdl owner, I DO want to test you further!!! For one thing, I did NOT say "field calls" were illegal! And, of course, since you, as a pdl owner, make money from these types of loans, see nothing wrong in going to a person's job! DUH!!! Just because something isn't illegal, doesn't make it right!!! And, fyi, I realize that any creditor has the right to contact you in any way they want to, until they've been told not to. But again, just because it's not illegal doesn't make it right!!! That type of harrassment, in my opinion, is just one of the MANY problems with pdl's. And, if my memory serves me correctly, I am as entitled to my opinion as you are yours!!!
You are correct, you ARE entitled to your opinion. If I miss un
You are correct, you ARE entitled to your opinion. If I miss understood you sarcasm, I apologize.
The issue at hand is that some people come here for guidance and assistance with thier problems. When you start throwing around your "opinion" and it is incorrect, you do not aid those in need.
You are correct that I make money off of these types of loans and again, you are correct that I do not see an issue completing a field call. I do this because I run a "for profit" business that is regulated, audited and complies with the regulation in the states that I operate. By being a "for profit" business, I have an obligation to my share holders to collect the money that is loaned to people that VOLUTARILY walk thru my door to borrow. I do not force anyone to bring me information, complete a Profile Sheet and write me a check. I also explain the terms that we are agreeing to and even call them the night before as a reminder. Am I going to use all of the legal tools to collect my money, which allows me to put food on my table and clothes on my family's back? Yes.
If you really want to help people, which is what the Mods and a few other here want to do, then make sure that you are able to seperate your opinion from what will actually help those in need. Also, why is a legal, licensed lender held to different standards in your eyes?
BTW, you may not like what I have to say, but I would challenge you to refute my statements. I will fight for the legal, licensed lenders, while trying to educate those on this thread of thier practices and how to work with them. On the other hand, I stand beside the purpose of this forum regarding the unlicensed, offshore lenders and how to avoid them at all costs.
thanks for the advise
I'm not trying to get out of the debt. I will pay off what I owe I just want him to quit showing up at the office where I work. Before I don't have a job to pay anyone.
Again he has been told by me not to come to my place of employment. I have also informed my boss that if he does to tell him he is trespassing.
I will be sending a letter to the branch office and corp to have him quit coming on my job. Or it will get UGLY!

Kym,
As I stated before, call the number above today and the visits will stop. If he decides to come back after your call, then call the police. Based on my experience, when you call Eric, he will get the Reg Mgr, District Mgr and Center Manager on the phone and explain the situation. Your account will immediately be transfered to collections where you will make payments. If that is not the scenario, it will go to collections on the 4th of the month after it is 30 days past due. They will then deposit the check if the acct is open and then accept payment arrangements. When you speak to Eric, stay calm and explain your situation clearly. If you get mad, yell, scream and threaten him, you will get nowhere. At this point, the only thing that they have done wrong is coming to your employment after you asked them not to and that will stop. If by chance Eric is not in, you may speak with Sue or Frank. Sue is the VP of another region and Frank is the Sr VP of Operations over all of the Reg VP's.
Make tha call and let me know how it turned out!

Susie....I used to be a debt collector and a damn good one at that! I was posting and advising even when I was still working the industry. PDL owner is here to advise and to give industry valid information, just like I used to do and still do.

I don't understand why everyone continues to bash PDL Owner. You may not agree with his/her way of making a living, but he/she is offering good advice on how to properly deal with LEGAL pdl's.
PDL Owner, thanks for your advise.

Hello Soaplady!!! I don't have a problem with the pdl owner personally, because like you said about the bad experience at the dentist, you can't beat them all up! But I find it difficult to sanction some types of harrassment that these pdl's use. And, legal or not, going to someone's job is crossing a line! The info the pdl owner provides is indeed a good source, but judging from my own experiences with them, and that of hundreds of others on this forum, I just don't see anything positive about them!!!

To PDL Owner:
Thanks for the advice. I will be giving Eric a call next week. Only because its the holidays and he is probably out of town ready to enjoy thanksgiving with his family. But as soon as Monday morning arrives I will make that call. I will not yell, scream or curse to get my point across. I just would like to ask him to have the guy at CIC, the store manager, to quit coming to my place of employment.
So thanks for the tips, and I can't wait to pay them OFF. I will let you know the outcome of all this.
Good luck! Thanks to the others that see my point. As an owner
Good luck! Thanks to the others that see my point. As an owner, I am proud of what I do because i deal with my customers every day. Not only do I get to hear how I help them thru life, but I also appreciate their gratitude for me being there to help.
Keep in mind that we never hear the stories from those that appreciate our service, but instead only form those that have voluntarily gotten themselves in over thier head by abusing the prevlige of borrowing. I heard an analogy on the radio today regarding credit, both credit and a chainsaw are valuble tools that can also cut a leg off.
Don't chastize the industry based on the misfortunes of a few, but only use it in the method to which it was created. Google is not the place to find a PDL. If you need one, go to the CFSA or your state to find a licensed lender.

Thanks again. I will steer you in the correct direction and "call out" those (lenders and/or customers) that give poor, illegal or incorrect information. My reasoning is that while I may not be connected to them, they represent me. I hold my character and integrity with the utmost importance and run my business in the same fashion and do not want to be included in the negative conversations about illegal lenders.

I went into check into pay $300 that I owed and renew the loan. later on that day my cell phone and my work and boyfriend's cell phone had been receiving numberous calls from
Carolyn Jameson at Check into cash. While at work I answered one of her calls that was frightening. She accused me of stealing $300 extra dollars and I said, I had paid them what I owed them. She that she was going to collect at my work. When I told her I wlould count my money to see if I had it. and i told her not at my work cuz I would get into trouble my boss was standing there and took the phone an d told her this matter would have to be taken care of somewhere else she then was yelling at her saying she will bring police with her and hung up on her. is this legal for her to do? This was not my mistake. Please advise a.s.a.p.

There should be a customer service number on your agreement, at the bottom I believe. Call that number and you will be routed to the Region Office for that store. It may send yu to the Corp Office if you call from a cell phone, but you will get the same result. Explain the situation and they Region VP will be more than happy to assist you with the situation. They should already be aware of the fact that the store was short $300 by the time you call. It is a simple "fix", as all that they need to do is review the tape and see that the manager did not collect the cash from you. My guess is that the two of you were talking and she got sidetracked.
Again, easy fix that Mike, Erik or Sue will handle.

FDCPA states that no debt collection company or employee can call or come by your workplace after you have asked them not to, however they can try to make contact if you have no accurate contact information until you have asked them to stop, after which they are supposed to. However in my experience(15years) many debt collection companies operate within the guidelines and you need to be responsible and call them and tell them when if at all you will be able to honor the agreement. In most cases many companies would rather not want the added expenses of driving to someones home or place of employment. If you will call them they probably will not go into the field.

Check into Cash isn't a collection agency, they are the original creditor, the FDCPA only applies to third party collectors.
