Help with InstantCash USA in Maryland!
Date: Mon, 12/01/2008 - 11:43
I had a loan with Instantcash Usa: took 300, paid back 975 in fees plus principal. I took another 300 loan and so far I paid back 270$.
I called their customer service and I told them that I want my account closed and marked as PIF and that according to my calculations I don't owe them anything else instead they would owe me 645$.
They were rude and practically laughed in my face.
So right now I saw that my account with them is marked for collection..meaning they want to take the whole 300$ out!!!
I mailed and faxed them a C&D letter, I revoked their ACH authorization....but what next? Should I contact my bank??
THere is no way I can close my account right now.
My due date is 12/12/2008.
Anybody here has ever had any experience with InstantCashUsa.com?

If you can't close you account, you can try & block them through your bank. The only problem would be that if they change their name or amount or try to put through a paper check, it might go through

I already talked to Bank of America. They say they need to know the exact amount of the ach debit in order to block it. And they would charge me a 30$ fee.
I also tried to call InstantCash USA and found out that my account was sent to their fraud department even though I didn't default yet. They said their collection agency will contact me. Not to mention that their customer service is absolutely horrible and they basicly hanged up the phone on me.
Has anybody dealt with them before?

Is this a payday loan company? If so, you might want to contact the Maryland Dept. of Financial Regulation (address and phone # under "State Laws for PDls" on this site), see what they say about InstantCash USA. (I've never dealt with them so can't give any advice). As far as your bank account, did you talk to a manager at your local branch? If not, that might be a way to get some help - I'm sure most banks in MD have heard similar stories. Please keep us posted.

Yes, it is an internet PDL. I think at one point they changed their name. They used to be Quickest-Cash-Advance.com or Mypaydayadvance.com ...I think they are all the same thing.
I will try to talk to a branch manager of Bank of America and see what they say.
What if they do go into my account and take the money? COuld the bank block that transaction?

These companies are so tricky, I'd say they'll do their best to get to your money. As dawnlango7 said, they might try to put through a debit under another name (and these companies can go under several names), or use a paper check. Is there any way you can put your present account on "deposit only" and open another account for your personal business? Or maybe have something like a "special handling" put on your account for any ach transactions, or something where you could be immediately notified by the bank if anyone tried to debit your account and you could say yes or no? When you go to your bank, definitely talk to the manager, they might be able to give you some assistance. And as I said in my earlier post, call the Maryland Dept of Financial Regulation for any advice they can give you.
