I've been tacking my pdls head-on for the last two weeks. So far, I've had six marked PIF. Part of my success has been due to the fact that I grossly overpaid on all of them, I had not defaulted, and the District has fairly clear cut laws about payday lending. I have four that are giving me trouble--Sagamore, Payday-Loan-Yes, Eastside Lenders and the dreaded MTE Financial Services. I've sent e-mails, faxes and filed complaints until I'm blue in the face. Does anything work with these guys? I received this e-mail from Payday-Loan-Yes today:
Your account is now in the collections process for non-payment on your loanaccount. As of today, your total account balance is $510; loan payoff is for $480,payment arrangements are for three (3) payments $160 due on 12-05-08,12-26-08 and 1-9-09, payment method is Visa or MasterCard debit/credit only.See your payment instructions listed below. Payment Instructions * To confirm this loan payoff you will need to provide your Visa orMasterCard debit or credit today, see payment form listed below.* Since payment is a time sensitive matter, your prompt paymentconfirmation remittance will avoid further collection actions This is a loan payoff, meaning once you confirm this payoff by providingyour card information, your account will then be removed from the collections process, your balance will be frozen and no further charges willbe assessed on the loan balance as long as you follow through with theagreed arrangement. It's humorous for two reasons. First, my loan was for $300 and I haven't defaulted...so where did the $510 come from (and she really sounds as though she's doing me a favor!) and second, these guys are so shady the District even issued a public warning about them--listing them by name (obviously my head was in the sand when they did..but nonetheless). Obviously I'm not going to fall for it...but does anyone have any advice?

Congrats on the PIF's :D Its a great feeling...

For the few you have remaining, I have read through the threads where they keeping contacting people & just don't seem to get it...unfortunately you will probably just have to keep sending the emails/letters until it gets through to them...
