Leaving Country for good, will creditors chase me for my DEBT?

I am a Canadian Citizen living in the UK as a resident of the UK. I have an Unsecured debt of £40,000 with a bank in the UK. I am moving back to Canada for good, what would happen if I left that Debt behind? Would them come after me in Canada?

I am a former canadian attorney...I worked for a major canadian bank in there legal department. Our bank did have an office or presence in the UK so we were able to sue. I didnt work in that area so I am not familiar with the details but I do know it is possilbe. Several UK banks likewise have canadian offices too.
