Payday Loan - WA State
Date: Mon, 12/01/2008 - 18:54
I have had payday loans for the past 6 years and I need to get rid of them once and for all. They are all currently store front and I live in the state of Washington.
Advance America - $795/$95 fee
Quik Cash - $575/$75 fee
CheckNGo - $795/$95 fee
I defaulted on Friday with all of them. I have made arrangements with Advance America to pay $150/month, but have yet to contact Quik Cash or CheckNGo. There is no way that I could pay $150 a month for the other two at this point as I can't pay my rent or my car payment either (which are both a month behind). So I'm looking for advice on how to handle them. Will they take anything they can get from me? As in for the next few months do you think they would accept $20/paycheck?
Any help is much appreciated!!

Please be careful with Advance America. I had a PDL with them and defaulted. I made arrangements like you did but they would put my check through again and again causing overdraft fees even though I was paying them.
When I called the store to complain they told me the manager had told them to do it. I think they just do it once a month to be spiteful.
Check n go will do the same thing. They won't make arrangements but they keep putting the check through hoping that it will clear.
I would advise you to contact them both and see what can be done. If they won't work with you then if you have direct deposit to take out your cash ASAP the morning of payday. You may get a NSF fee but that is better than them getting the money when you least expect it.
It happened to me and I was in bad shape with no way to pay rent or buy food.
I will never understand some of the PDLs. I mean I know we borrowed from them but when you are willing to try and pay them back and are not hiding from them they still insist they need it all at once and then continue to try and deposit the check which causes more charged fees by our banks. I mean I could have paid them the $30 instead of having to pay the bank.

since all of the above are licensed store fronts, they do have to treat you in accordance with state laws. First Step, go in and talk to them. state what you can pay and be prepared to pay your first payment. They may not like it, but if they take it and you follow through with your stated arrangements they will likely work with you. They will want their money as soon as possible, but they also want to take the easiest path to getting your money.. If you have direct deposit, you may want to stop it or change checking accounts as a way to protect your money.
