I can tell you that I have worked part-time at Lowe's since May and due to the economy, they have been cutting hours. I would think it would be difficult to get something seasonal since there are quite a few people laid off from full time jobs. Good luck to you!

With the economy the way it is, it's a little more difficult to pick up holiday work than it was in the past. Your best bet is to try jobs that relate to all the holiday gifting madness: namely, retailers. Try all kinds of retail stores, and if they aren't still hiring since they may have pretty much hired and staffed for the holidays by now, try checking with malls and holiday festivals/fairs/parades etc. They might need to pick up a few people to help with traffic control and parking, or run an information booth or something. You never know, you might be able to pick up any odd-end thing. Years ago when I needed some extra work for the holidays, a popular electronics retailer that always got slammed from November through to January, paid me to hold a bunch of colorful balloons and stand at the end of the line, so that customers could find the end of the line. It was incredibly silly and boring, but they had me do it from Black Friday up until Christmas Day. The day after Christmas I was back to work with them- now holding balloons to mark the end of the "returns" line. ;)

Besides retail, I would look for jobs at any type of entertainment venues in your area. Do you have any concert venues in your town? I have a second job at our local venue--and besides seeing the shows for nothing, I do earn a small second check.
thanks so much! i wish i knew i would be losing my second job :(

It is very ironic that the biggest part time seasonal employers this season are the companies running going out of business sales ...
many states have shut down hiring for state jobs..hope Obama infrastructure program will put significant unemployed back to work..many companies who did not fair well this holiday season and were counting on profits will be laying off and letting go many many more I am very sad to think about this
