Wouldn't hurt to ask to set up a payment plan. However, they won't settle(for a different amount), you will owe whatever is do,
I know before I started fighting my NSF fees from mine, they offered me payment plans, but I was with a local credit union.
I would talk to the branch manager, of your local bank or if you have their collections number talk to them.

I am not sure about that perticuliar bank, but my youngest son paid off his at our bank.
He thought the ATM card was endless, I guess, and got really overdrawn. They closed out his account, he had written checks on it too, and I marched him up there to settle it.
We went in person, and talked with an officer of the bank, and explained how stupid, and wanted to pay them back, but needed payments. They set up a payment plan and he paid it off. Not too long after, he was even able to open another account.

Communication with your bank never hurts. Although they run a tight ship, they are still human (at least some are LOL) and if you explain your situation and show a genuine interest in settling your debt with them, they just may be willing to go the extra mile for you. These situations usually can be reversed if authorities feel strong enough to work with you. I'd say give it a shot because banks definitely don't want bad debt on the books. Make sure that you're clear on if you do settle the debt, could they get you removed from ChexSystems -- or at least inform them with a written statement that your debt has been satisfied. And don't just take their word for it either, be sure to get E V E R Y T H I N G in writing. Afterall, the always do!

You can try to call the bank. Depending on how long it has been since the account was charged off, it may have been turned over to a collection agency. In that case, the bank can not help you.
Remember, paying off the debt will NOT remove you from chexsystems.
