Debt consolidation fees vary from one company to another. Fees structure may consist of upfront fees. However many companies doesn???t disclose the same. There may be a nominal fee charged as monthly fees. Usually several states have an upper cap so that companies cannot deceive the clients. Several companies charge hundreds of dollars as start up fees.

When you enroll for the program, they may charge a set-up fee. Sometimes the debt relief company keeps the first monthly installment from the client as their own fees.

However you should clarify the fee structure to know whether the debt relief company follows by the state regulations.

Click on "Do It Yourself" on the link bar above, you will see options. Many people go debt free on their own. Some, though, don't wish to (or can't) spend the time and patience required, so if you decide to hire someone:
1) Make sure all their fees are up front and clearly explained.
2) I would say to go with a Law Firm, one that is reasonable, and keeps all their information out in the open, but your private info and status of your case accessible to you at any time, and has a good BBB rating.
