I am hoping to make payment arrangements with 4 of my 6 PDL's (the 4 that are storefront) but I just added up the numbers and if they give me a plan of 4 equal payments it would be $147 for each loan each paycheck ($588 total each payday for 4 paydays).

Extensions were costing me $610 a paycheck which is why I had to stop paying.

I am so far behind on "real bills" (like utilities and car payments) that I need to pay these first for a while then deal with the payment arrangements for the PDL's.
What will the storefronts do if I can't do a 4 EPP?
Should I just send them $50 a month for a bit while I get resolved on everything else (like catching up two months of car payments and utiities)?

If you can not afford all but at least one or two I would do it. The store fronts will hound you on the phone at home, at work and your references if you don't pay them.

I can tell you my one experiance with Advance America. I defaulted and I spoke with a rep at the store about a week or so later and asked if I could pay $50 every two weeks and they agreed. After three payments they ran my original check through again. I had overdraft protection on my account that I did not have before when the initial loan was taken out so the check cleared but then I was $605 in the hole with the bank. I had direct deposit so when I did get paid my paycheck was gone.

My advice is to close your bank account and open a new one if you can. They can and will keep attempting to collect on those checks and if you have any cash at all in the bank at the time and the check clears you might be SOL. If you have no money then the bounced check charges will start adding up. You may even just be able to do a stop payment on the checks. Even if there is a fee it would be cheaper in the end then having multiple fees every other day.

Also if you are at least paying one or two you are getting that debt out of the way. You may be broke for a while but you do feel a little better if you are at least paying something off. At least I do.

It is a slow process and it can be stressful along the way but it is worth it in the end.

Many states have regulations regarding taking payments and then depositing the check. It is a moot point in Ohio now, but you were due a refund of the amount you 'overpaid'. If you have not recieved it, I would press them for one.

If you lodge a complaint with your states regulatory agency, they might even be required to pay any NSF or overdraft fees you incurred.

I have already closed the checking account and opened a new one at the same bank. They branch was really good about it and assured me that no ACH or checks could be forced through on the old account. I did this on Monday and my remaining four loans are due to push through today.

I spoke with one storefront yesterday. They said "they do not make payment arrangements" but I should bring on a "good faith" payment. I told them it would most likely only be $50 a month. Of course she said this was not sufficiant and that "collection activity will continue". Whatever, atleast I will be paying something toward the debt and can continue paying when it is sent to a CA.

Like I said in the original post, I need to catch up a car payment, utilities and then deal with the most aggressive of my PDL's (from this forum that looks like it will be CashNet and Zip19. Zip19 is illegal and I have already paid above the original loan amount many time over so they will not get another dime. But CashNet is an online licensed in my state and I hear they will only do 3 or 4EEP, so money will have to go to them first.

I am so glad I found this site! I only wish I had found it a year ago before borrowing thousands from family memebrs to try and pay these off, only to have to take them out again! I still owe family thousands...UG! At least after this PDL's won't be an option for me!

if you dont mind me asking what company is your car payment through? i have been in the automobile industry for 3 years now and especially the way it is today with the economy and all, the company i work for is giving out 2 month deferments like they are going out of style. not all finance companies will do deferments but hey it doesnt hurt to ask. it will get your car payment current and free up more money to pay off these loan sharks.

My auto loan is through Capital One (UG.)

They will not give me a defferment because I can "only use that option once during the life of the loan" and did so the first year of my loan when I had to go on bedrest during a pregnancy. They deferred two months at that time.

I live in AZ and also have HUGE ulility bills left from the summer ($600 a month to A/C my house here). The utility company allowed me to pay off $1300 in late utilities over three months, but that added to to current bill makes my electric bill about $550 a month through February) After that I will go on a managed payment plan that will make my bill $275 a month all year long (very nice when it hits 115 degrees here and the A/C is running constantly).

i'm in arizona too so i totally understand about the electric bill in the summer, its outrageous. we had to switch to mpower because our bill was so high one month we couldnt pay it all, 500 dollars a month for a 980 square foot apartment? but now that we can see how much we are using down to the hour i am constantly running around turning out lights and stuff. we try to only run the dishwasher and appliances at night.

that sucks about only 1 def for the life of the loan, but in the long run it is a good thing, my company does 4 deferments for the life of the loan, some people take advantage of it, what they dont realize is that is 8 months of daily intrest they are paying for at the end of the loan and can cause a huge balloon payment. dont get me wrong its a good tool to use if there are no other options. but capital one should work with you, trust me in todays economy all finance companies are running around like chickens with their heads cutt off. good luck and hang in there. it will get better.

They did refund the money I had made in payments when I went to the store to complain.

I then contacted my AG and filed a complaint and I was able to get the amount for the bounced check at my bank ($30) as well as the $20 fee they charged.

I did not have an EPP as I did not know about them at the time. I just made the arragements with the store clerk over the phone. They just did not stick to their word.

If you don't have an EPP they can and will keep attempting to submit the original check if you have defaulted. I had defaulted at Checksmart once and while I was trying to got the money together they also kept attempting to process the check causing NSF fees. I should have put a stop payment on the check but I was not aware I could do that either.

I just don't understand why they do that. I am sure they hoping that one of the attempts will hit when there is money in there but when they keep causing the fees how can we save up the money to pay them.

I just wanted to make it clear to get an EPP. Do not take the word of the store to make payment arrangments if you have already defaulted.
