I tried disputing it through NCUA, which in turn turned it over to our Office of Credit Union's. They wouldn't do anything saying I had to go back to the payday lenders through WI DFI. I've complained all the way up to our Sen. Reg the lack of helpfulness of the Office of Credit Union's response and unwillingness to help. All I want is removal from chex systems since it was really not my fault. I've gone through OCC, FDIC & Federal Reserve all say I have to go to DFI.
How the freaking hell do I get these people to understand it's not really a payday issue but the refusal of the credit unions to close my account when I had asked them to??!?! (pulls hair out in frustration)
And for the record I am using DFI for one for two of the lenders, for violations of payday laws but she hasn't gotten back to me yet, (Speaking of which, I need to get a hold of her again, she was suppose to e-mail me already)

i had a lot of problems with my bank and pdls. i was told "this isn't the way banks work - you put in money to pay people" whatever my loans arent even legal in this state (and i did pay them, thankyouverymuch).
i cannot offer too much advice, (perhaps the banking board could help) but wanted to say i understand.
There's a banking board for credit unions? (Off to do a search)
There's a banking board for credit unions? (Off to do a search) All i've wanted up to this point was removal from chex systems & credit reports, since it was the credit union's screw up.
Now, I've contacted a lawyer, and they are going to get back to me to see if I have a case or not. (probably not, seeing at the time I was stupid and didn't send the letters certified) I'm still waiting to hear back from our AG's office as well as our Gov & Mayor (Doubt i'll hear back from those two) and Secretary of DFI. In the meantime I've contacted a lawyer. This is utterly redicouls. I'm never banking at a credit union again. I have more options under w/ banks then I do credit unions!

Bea, I have used all the advise found on the boards regarding NCUA, OCC, FDIC etc. Since it's a credit union, all of them are telling me I have to go to WI DFI and can't help
So, i'm just in a waiting period right now..
My Credit Union Experience
I too have an account with a CU, and when I attempted to close it, I was told I'd simply have to pay the overdraft fees first. I didn't have the money right then, so I asked the teller to remove the courtesy pay feature from the account so I'd ONLY have to pay overdraft fees for anything that came thru before I could close the account. Thankfully, I was able to establish a new account on the spot, so I simply switched my direct deposit to the new account and notified all of the creditors that I had legit ACH agreements with of the account change. I paid off the overdraft fees a week later and FINALLY closed the account. The key to resolving the issue was simply paying the CU what I owed them.
