I received a call at my office this afternoon. The individual, a male with a foreign accent, left a message on my voicemail reciting my full name, full address, and full SSN. Then he went on to identify himself as "Officer Shawn Baker" of the "United States Crime Suspect Department." He said I needed to contact him regarding a "very serious and time sensitive matter" and that I should "call back as soon as possible before something happens to you." "if you fail to return this call, I don't know what will happen to you, and you may be facing some shocking surprises and consequences at your job or home. Give me a call back or else only God can help you. Goodbye."

I know darn well this is a scam. What do I need to do to nail these guys?

They're baaaaaaaacckk... Three calls today:

817-500-5910
201-430-7193
201-478-7912

Pretty funny voicemail from "Officer Mike Johnson" (who sounded like he was drunk, talking slow and slurring) with the usual humor about being downloaded, sheriff coming, etc. LOL.

LOL. Two more calls to my voicemail, and another call at my office from "Officer Mike Johnson" with a long spiel telling me I will be "behind the bars soon" and have my "social security number blocked and credit report frozen" and will not be able to receive any "government benefits." Oh, he was also recording my call for the Attorney General of my state, since I'm being accused of theft by deception, check fraud, bank fraud, and violation of federal banking regulations. LOL!!! Once I told him I wasn't going to pay and he was welcome to go ahead with whatever he thought he could do, he said he was transferring my case to the sheriff's department and that soon I would be "behind the bars." Too funny!!!

I am jumping on the bandwagon of harassing these guys on your behalf since the more time they talk with me, the less time they call you ;). I was in heavy debt for years and am now out of it. I have the next two weeks off for vacation. I am going to have some fun. Anyone want to give me names of who to ask for?

I am getting United States Crime Suspect Department or United States Law Enforcement Department. The calls started off several months ago saying I owed money on a Bank of America account (never had an account with them) and today they said something about Bahama BMG payday loans (another I've never had). I would verify the phone numbers if I were you, ryanc2.

Denying Mike Johnson also, got the guy to talk for 5 minutes about subways $5 footlongs and how the kids needed braces and i would have to mend them out of horse shoes. Sad thing is the guy almost took me seriously with my redneck accent and slang. It is nice to not be connected to a situation. I have however been on your side of the table and this shit gets old too fast.

These losers just don't give up! I had another voicemail from "Officer Mike Johnson" last night, leaving the entire spiel as though he'd never even spoken to me.

Today he calls and leaves me another voicemail. Five minutes later, calls my office - this tiem it is "Officer Mark Johnson." LOL! Wants to know "what I am gonna do now" and telling me how I will be dragged down to county court and put "behind the bars" costing me thousands of dollars. I laughed and said I was going to do nothing and said "I told you that yesterday." He hung up. We'll see how many more calls I get over the next few days.

Okay, I'm honestly beginning to think that "Officer Mike/Mark Johnson" may be mentally challenged. Just 5 minutes ago I received yet another voicemail from him with the whole spiel about a "time sensitive and important matter" - just like he'd never even talked to me... even though we just talked not even 30 minutes ago today. Oh yeah, and yesterday. Plus 3 voicemails between yesterday & today. WTF idiot?

Well, looks like I finally hit the big time! Last night after I got another call from "Officer Mark Johnson" and I proceeded to call him back 11 times and just sit there saying nothing until he hung up, then I got a call from... Officer John McCain!!! Yep, I've finally arrived! LOL! McCain and I ended up in a shouting match which was actually pretty funny. Then I called him back another 12 times doing the same thing - dialing his extension, then sitting there doing nothing until he hung up. Once he stopped answering, I decided to have some more fun, so I started leaving him voicemails. Basically repeating their little spiel verbatim about "facing some shocking consequences at your home and job" but I decided to use different names. First I was Officer Sarah Palin. Then I was Officer Lindsay Lohan.

I've decided that if they call me, I am going to answer as "Officer" and just start immediately into the spiel - "I'm calling today to inform you of some serious charges against your name." LOL. Should be pretty fun. I think if he calls today I would like to use some Bollywood names, so he'll realize how ridiculous it is. Maybe I'll answer as Officer Shilpa Shetty...

OK. I've been missing calls on my caller ID from a 585-919-0331 number. When I call the number back it is disconnected. I assumed it was someone trying to sell something, and haven't thought much of it.

Today at work, I answered my work phone to an Indian accented man who introduced himself as Officer Jason William.

Well, he pulled all the same stuff he did on everyone else. The only thing is I HAVE had payday loans and I do owe on a couple...so I am afraid of not paying. But, at the same time, I can see that there is something fishy about these people and I don't feel comfortable paying them. But they have my ols bank account info, my social, my email, my work..EVERYTHING. I'm really afraid. I'm going to file reports with the police, AG, FTC, etc... but I just am really really nervous. Has anyone else that actually owed money to a payday loan company gotten one of these calls? Is the fact that I actually owe money just coincidental? When I asked them for details about the loan or for something in writing, they refused, of course. He also kept putting me on hold to "talk to the court because these people want to see me behind bars".

It would all be laughable...except that I know I legitimately have a debt and these people have way too much information on me!

BTW the number on my caller ID was that 585 number, but today they gave me a number of 904-425-7345

mandab622 - i doubt that you owe this company a penny.
i also have one unsettled payday loan out there and it might be connected with him, i don't know (it's loan point usa). but even if you did owe him money, his scare tactics are still just that - empty threats. you will not go to jail, you will not have a warrrant, there is no legal action they can take. even if you owed him anything (again, i sincerly doubt), i still would say do not even give him a penny. there is nothing legal about what they do and there is nothing he can do to you besides call. they do know this, which is why they get so nasty.

Thanks. I just needed to hear some reassurance. I called the number back on my lunch just to see how they answer....and it was a voicemail that picked up with "Law Office Federal Bank". He told me he was calling from the law offices of the us national bank when he called. It's all so ridiculous. It just makes me nervous that people like this have all of my information. Ick. I'm definitely not giving them a cent though! I won't be picking up any calls from them at home, and if I am unlucky enough to get them at work again, I will hang up.

Sorry to laugh but these idiots are TOO Funny! "only God can help you now" "something really, really, really bad will happen to you" - it's like a chain letter or a Monty Python script! OMG - I almost wish they'd call me! Maybe I'll call them. Maybe we all should call them like Mike did. : ) Whenever we get upset about the American debt collectors who we can't do anything about we should take it out on the foreign ones! Bwahhhhaaaaaa...

OK, it's been a week since I last talked to these wackos...they've left me alone until today. I missed a call from this number (completely different from the other number that was coming up on my ID and the number they gave me last week)...left a message on my VM and called twice at work. I hung up on him both times. UGH.

Just so we are clear about TNT Telemarketing or CMI or whatever fake Police name they are using, please do not pay these people a dime. Do not give them any personal information about yourself. They are misrepresenting themselves as real merchants and are attempting to collect on debts that, in all cases, do not exist.

In any case, you should contact your merchant directly and never call the numbers they provide. Legitimate merchants will have a contact number on their site, a U.S. address, and will be able to provide a "verification of your debt" that they can provide in writing - usually in the form of a contract you signed (either physically or electronically).

This organization operating these numbers are suspected of fraud. They are a fraud ring operating a call center in India with call trunks in Jacksonville and Key West, FL. Hopefully, they will shut down soon and this will all go away.

Contact the FTC Federal Trade Commission 1-877-FTC-HELP. I filed a complaint there this morning and they said anyone else that has gotten the same type of call should call them as well. They will give you a reference number and if they call back or continue to harrass you they can note that in the case file.
Do not give this number any info. Call FTC immediately!

I work as telephone operator at a business. I have gotten similar calls from people claiming to be calling for the FBI and wanting personal contact info on former employees (which is forbidden by law or regulation to be given out). They told me "this person has committed a crime". I called their bluff and they started swearing. I have reported the call to local law enforcement and the FBI. Their caller ID said INSPIRED MKTG and had a local number. There are numerous reports about the company, all calls showing local numbers all over the country.

BTW: The FBI said that if they want information, they issue a subpoena. They NEVER ask for it over the phone.

Shoot, I forgot to add it was a 201 area code this time. They also left a voicemail at my house. When the guy finished his little spiel and asked what I wanted to do, I told him I refused to pay and go ahead and sue me. He just said "ok" and hung up.

I think they're going to be getting some more fun calls from me this evening. Officer Shilpa Shetty is ready for her big comeback. Heh.

I also received a call at work. When I said I need your telephone # to call you back for verification, there was hesitation and then they went on through their reasons for calling. Which was
Violation of Federal Banking Regulation
Collateral Check Fraud
Theft by deception
Case # 1A5613
I replied with, I will have my lawyer call you back. Then his story changed to Oh you have not received monies from Nationwide or 200 cash.com. I replied no. Then he stated to nevermind the call and have a good day. I am reporting this to my emplyer as I see this as harrassment and future embezzlement into my checking account.
I hope this will help some one else that may receive this sort of phone call

They've called me three times this year but can never give me their physical address or send me any document. thats how I knew it was a scam. Now I just have fun with them and pretend I'm also an officer who was waiting for them to call me. It is just so funny.

I actually had one of them call me crying telling me because I reported him and didn't pay my balance he was fired! I wish! He then said he didn't care for himself, but his wife and kids were so upset, crying, etc. I burst out laughing. It is very annoying. Evidently they stole payday loan information, I spoke with the payday loan company and they have an investigation going. I reported them to my AG's office also. I played them one day and was told I owed $300 even, then 500, and all the way up to $1200 even, and I needed to pay TODAY to resolve this debt. They are full of S**T but unfortunately people are paying them. More of a nusience than anything.
