Settled account still reporting every month
Date: Mon, 12/15/2008 - 17:49
I settled a charge account w/First Premier back in December, 2007. When I just pulled my credit report, they did report says "settled for less than full balance" . However they also have been reporting every month until October 2008 as paid (shows up green on Equifax report every month from Jan-Oct).
Can they do this? Once we have a settled account, I wouldn't think it could be reported every month--would I be able to sue for $1000 for each month they reported for violations of credit reporting

Technically it should have been reported closed/settled in the m
Technically it should have been reported closed/settled in the month you settled it, and then it shouldn't have been reported afterwards.
They're not really breaking any laws until you dispute it. Dispute it, tell them it should be reported closed as of 12/2007. They'll most likely fix it for you.
I don't think that First Premier has done anything wrong by mark
I don't think that First Premier has done anything wrong by marking it "Settled for less than full" after settling your debt. You can talk to the company for marking it paid in full. But I doubt they will do it.

It seems from your post that after settling your debt they have reported "Paid". If it is so then they have not done anything wrong and it'll not hurt your credit score any further. But if they have reported anything negative (such as not settled or anything like this) then you can send a dispute letter to Equifax.
