I took out a loan or took a rebate from this company. They gave me $300 and I have paid back $525. I am trying to pay them off but they say I need to pay another $429 to cancel the contract. How do I do this?

what state are you in?this sounds like an illegal transaction to me.

i would check with your DFI(department of financial institutions)it sounds like they are not licensed and trying to get around the lending laws.i would definitly close your current account and open a new one.that would stop the payments.do you have a copy of this contract?see what it describes this as.you might have to get your AG involved, but i wouldn't pay them another dime until i found out what exactly this is.

it sounds to me nascar like they are trying to get around the laws by not naming it as a loan.i looked and this place has no license or is registered as a CSO.

I have a simular problem here in Florida, they are stating to me that the contract says I baught a service (pre-paid phone cards), now I remember recieving these cards but never used them. So I never "Used" their service. They also claim the check is over $150.00 and in Florida that could be a felony charge.

Far as I can tell they are trying to intimidate me into paying them off. Now I have paid them 3x what they allege I owe. I just lack the knowledge how to stop them in their tracks.

They claim they are going to hit my credit. I am going to put my documentation together and I need to know what to do next?

Thanks
