I received a letter from Mitchell N. Kay (a CA working on behalf of Macy's) that says, "Our client values your business & would like to help you reinstate your account with them". blah blah blah. "Pay the full balance owed & receive a new CC w/a credit line equal to the amount of your payment. This offer will be valid as long as our client continues to authorize this program. Once reinstated this account will be reported to the CBR's as an open account."

This was for a Macy's account that went bad a couple years ago. Apparantly Macy's still owns the account. Anyone ever done anything like this before?

I got the exact same letter. I had 3 surgeries since last year and have only recently started getting Social Security before that I had no income for 1 year. This is how it appears on my credit report, not sure if it's legal or not. If it is legit and I get the offer again I would do it. You can also call Macy's and see if they will take the payment.

Today I got the same thing from the same agency on behalf of Macy's and was wondering if it was legit or not. If so I may take up the offer as well. I'll give them a call on Monday to look into it a little more.
