This was for a Macy's account that went bad a couple years ago. Apparantly Macy's still owns the account. Anyone ever done anything like this before?

I got the exact same letter. I had 3 surgeries since last year and have only recently started getting Social Security before that I had no income for 1 year. This is how it appears on my credit report, not sure if it's legal or not. If it is legit and I get the offer again I would do it. You can also call Macy's and see if they will take the payment.

There is nothing to stop them from closing the account again aft
There is nothing to stop them from closing the account again after their next credit score review. I would be careful. This is a good way for them to get their money, reinstate your account and then close it again after a "normal" credit review.

Hey I got that some offer and I just got my macys card. I thought I wouldn't get it too but they worked with me. And whats so funny is that the same collection agency is getting more of my delinquent accounts and sending me offers from left to right.
