I received a letter from an attorney being retained by Discover. I sent the letter to a debt settlement company that I was dealing with. By the time I was notified that this debt settlement company was shut down for illegal practice, it was past the 30 days to respond to the letter. I didn't receive anything until today in my front door was a folder piece of paper from my county's sheriff office to call immediately regarding a civil suit. I'm panicking not knowing what to do next. Is it too late to send a DV letter to the attorney office? Should I respond to the folded piece of paper that wasn't even in an evelope? Someone please help by responding.

huh?check your county clerk to see if a suite was filed.they should be able to confirm that.send the DV letter only if there is no court date or suit filed.if there was a suit show up on that date with a lawyer if possible and present your side.
