Permanent Disability in MI-Portfolio Recovery

I'm on permanent disability and am being harrassed by Portfolio Recovery on a old Capital One account. I live in Michigan and read somewhere if you are on disability I can't be taken to court for payinga old debt. I filed an Answer in response to the summons and complaint and have a court date in Feb. Any help would be appreciated.

Permanent disability is not a defense. They can take you to court and they can get a judgement. However they cannot garnish your bank account as disability income is exempt. If you own property , that is an open target.

OF DISABILITY AND MAYBE FOOD STAMPS.
PORTFOLIO RECOVERY IS A BAD COLLECTION AGENCY REPORT THEM TO FTC.MY HUSBAND BLIND AND MENTALLY ILL
WAS HARASSED FOR PORTFOLIO RECOVERY FOR A DEBIT ALREADY PAID FROM 1991.
REPORT THES PEOPLE.HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!!
