I currently paid off two credit cards in full and am making my final payment to American Coradius this Friday. They have been extremely helpful with me believe it or not. But I just have a few questions....since I did settle with American Coradius and am paying them a certain amount they said that once that amount goes through then they would send me information that shows I'm paid in full with them and they would send it back to Chase where my account is already closed. I'm just kind of confused on what all happens once I make my final payment to American Coradius and what I should be on the look out for. This is my first time dealing with a collection agency.

After making the final payment send them a certified letter mentioning that you've done the final payment and thus they don't owe you anything. Also ask for the pay-for-delete letter as agreed between you and American Coradius. After getting the PIF inform original creditor about this.

Personally, I would request a pay off letter PRIOR to making that final payment. A pay off letter states what the pay off is on the account up to a certain date. After making payments, you are not going to get a pay for delete....with one payment left, the CA isnt going to go to the effort or asking for or typing up such a letter....they really have no vested interest anymore.
