First of all let me say I am so sorry to hear about your husband
First of all let me say I am so sorry to hear about your husband, I can only imagine how difficult it must be for you. If you are not comfortable talking to your HR department you can always write them an email or letter revoking any and all wage assignments they may receive. You can say as little or as much as you feel is necessary to accomplish this. You can also add that their has been illegal activity on your bank account and you may receive calls from creditors as you had to close your account and you hope they will understand if you recive phone calls of a business nature at work while you work through this personal matter.
I hope this helps.

Hi anitakitchen50,
during my research I found out that wage assignments in my state (FL) are illegal. Only wage garnishments are acceptable, but need a court order.
You can look this up at your state's government webpage and find out the status of this in your state. Maybe this information will help you a little..
I did go to speak to my HR department and gave them a copy of my letters, (better safe than sorry..) but mostly to make sure that they know I revoked any possibly given authorization to contact my employer!
Yes, it was a little embarrassing, no doubt.
Wishing you and your husband the best for the near future!

kfstaff24, I'd talk to them, just to be on the safe side. Do as kfstaff suggested. Also have you tried hiring an attorney for disability? I know they take some of your back pay that you are suppose to receive. I'm sure you appealed their decision by now. Did you have a court hearing with a judge? (regarding the disability)
Sorry to hear of your problems, hope things will get better for
Sorry to hear of your problems, hope things will get better for you and your family. Have you been in communication with your States' attorney general office, their financial regulation agencies, etc? If so, that would perhaps be a "plus" when talking to your HR PEOPLE; as was mentioned above, state that you've had illegal activity on your bank account and you're working with your States' attorney general office, etc., in getting the matter taken care of.
