Hi all,
Been a while since I posted. I had payday loan trouble last year, and decided to go through PDL Assistance to clear the mess up. I just sent them my last payment, so I'm hoping that's the end of it.
It seems a few rogue collection companies are still trying to get me, though. Every once in a while I'll get a call from one of them, but I've just been passing them on to PDL without answering myself. The last message I got was a 'David Black', who simply wanted me to call him back asap. The number he wanted to be contacted at was 877-226-6701. I did a google search and discovered that this was Advantis Collection Agency. I also saw this story posted on one of those 'Who Just Called Me' sites regarding them:

I was getting called by this company since like back in february of this year and i try to always screen my calls. this number first appeared as a blocked #, but when i would get a call and a number would be left on my vm it would be the 1-877 number. there were three occasions that i picked up before checking the i.d. because once i was waiting on someone to call right back, and each time they would say they were calling about a pay day loan. they wanted to know if i was willing to pay it back. i always sd no and hu. after reading some of the notes on this website i began to doubt the validity of this company and thought it was just a scam. Then i got a call from a david black and he said he was calling as a last chance to see if i was going to take care of this before legal action. I told him to "f" off and hu. about two weeks later I got a court summons in the mail and i was taken to a claims court where i ended up having to pay the balance and the court fees. apparently advantis is a collections agency that purchases the debt from payday loan companies and since i wouldn't take care of it it went to court and i got screwed. i shoulda realized how serious this was and just been responsible. now i'm paying more for my mistake.

That sounds a little to me like something an Advantis employee posted to scare people into settling with them. Any idea if they can really do what this guy claims happened to him?

BTW, I don't know which of my loans they're representing as of right now.

as far as the post you copied.yes that is an advantis employee.they must send you something in writing after initial contact.search for advantis in the upper right hand bar.should tell you all you need to know about this bottomfeeder.i would also inform PDL assistance of this as well.

I agree too. They try all kinds of tactics. They even went as far as calling me to tell me that if I don't respond that they were going to have the sheriff come to my job. They threatened to take me to court and place a judgement against me. She was ruthless. I got into so many arguements with her that I just stop answering her calls and she left repeated voicemails at my place of employment. Eventually she stopped calling and someone else took over but when I just didnt respond, the phone calls stopped on their own.
