I am going to address this as a general statement and not "call out" individuals directly as they have been corrected in specific threads...

This is a forum created to assist people that have gotten into trouble with payday loans. Over the past few weeks there have been a few posters that are trying to help, but are giving poor, inaccurate or totally incorrect information. Some of the advice included stating that a LEGAL internet lender was not legal and to report them as such. If the poster reads that and does not return, you have just set them up for a date in small claims court and additional fees.

Your input and assistance is greatly appreciated, but when you take a position of "leadership", you must make sure that you are correct and not letting your personal judgement cloud your statement.

No matter what side of the fence we sit on in this debate, we owe it to the people asking for help to give them accurate information.

That's why I never try to assume that a company is or isn't legal or assume anything else for that matter. I usually do a lot of research before I post my response to someone...and hopefully if I do give some incorrect info, someone is nice enough to correct me. I am always learning new things on this site...

I stated that I was not going to "call out" the specific person(s). It was a subject that I wanted to address and make people conscious of so that they think before they type.

That is why I said "with out revealing the poster".

I mean a simple X poster said this and it is not the case because A) They are licensed in that state or B) They are not licensed in that state.

I am not trying to get picky and I think you do help a lot around here, really, but if we want to keep things accurate then should we not point them out when they are not accurate?

I mean just for the plain purpose of searching. If I search on "B Payday loans" and I see a thread that someone stated they were illegal and then I also open another thread where I see that was disputed with back up information, is that not just as helpful/useful?

I don't want to step on toes as I am new around here but searching this site is were I get most of the information that I use when I reply to other posters. I do try and read at least three or more threads where the same information is posted before I pass that on to others. If would run across one that stated that previous statements were not true I would continue my research.

i think you should give at least one example.what you did was put it in everyone's mind.that is not good as people will be hesitant to post.so please state an example.

OK, if you insist...

There have been 2 different posters that have stated that CashnetUSA and ACE were not legal lenders in specific states. This was in the past few days. Both were corrected by another poster, but these were common companies that should not be lumped in the the illegal lenders.

Putting it in people minds is exactly what I wanted to do! Not to harm the forum, but to ensure that moving forward the information that is being provided is based on facts and not biased opinions. These are peoples lives that we are dealing with, whether it is the consumer in over thier head or a legitamite lender that has thier life savings wrapped up in a business that is legal even though you don't agree with it. All that I was asking in the OP was that we need to ensure that we are giving correct information. I will not pass judgment regarding spelling for obvious reasons, but content is of the utmost importance.

Thanks Paul.

I am going to start a thread to try to gain a little insight from people that have run into issues with PDL's. If you will check my first post to determine appropriateness, it would be greatly appreciated. When you read it, if you do not feel it is appropriate, please delete. Also, I want to keep it productive and not turn into a "flame session". Can you help?
