Alright I have my letters together and ready to send to my PDL illegal lenders. Question though:

Do they call your references and harass them? As well as your work? Should I inform my work? I'm so embarrassed what should I say?

What is the website to check for unlicensed PDL internet places for IL?

Hi miley,

Here is the link to the database:
http://www.idfpr.com/dfi/ccd/ccd_licensees.asp

I would tell your friends and work that you are the victim of fraud or something like that and that you may be getting phone calls from these people. That way they are already aware and won't be caught off guard if they calls do come in.

All depends on the lender, miley. Some you'll never hear from again once they get the letters. Others will do everything short of sending legbreakers to your door - or they'll sell to someone who will. But a couple of things to consider:

- Most iPDL's are unlicensed or at least are only licensed in their home state. They won't sue and you can't be arrested - no matter what they say.

- Most iPDL's only report bad loans to Teletrack or DP Bureau and not to the "Big Three" that factor into your FICO credit score. (Some collection agencies do report payday loans though, so you should still keep an eye on your credit report.)

- Eventually even the nastiest lender or debt buyer realizes they're not gonna get paid and will give up.
