bk and avoiding lawsuits

a question was answered by Roxette regarding claiming bankruptcy after being sued I believe she stated bankruptcy would stop the suit ( by the way I am referring to credit card debt) she also said something about being careful if a judgement has already been placed before debt is discharged. Can someone explain to me what that means. Can one still be sued? Thank you
