filing bk, should I avoid creditor calls for now until I get money for

I have been avoiding calls from my creditors, hoping to buy time to save the money for my attorney. I am 2-3 months behind on my payments. Is this the best thing to do for now? How long will they (Chase & Bank of America) continue to call before filing suit? Any help is appreciated.
