My question is regarding multiple listings.

I had two accounts with two OC that is listed on my Equifax report. Both accounts were sold to CA in 2006. Asset Acceptance and Arrow Financial.

When I pulled my 3 credit reports it showed the OC's as sold on my Equifax, however the same debts are listed again, but under Transunion with a CA by both accounts.

It's listing the OC debt as a closed account for both debts, plus a CA accounts as closed for the same debt on Equifax.

Then an open account for collections but with another reporting agency(Transunion). Kind of like they are moving from one reporting bureau to another with the original debt. Is this legal? I disputed the two open accounts with the bureaus and they verified, but how can the same debt be listed as a closed account and an open account with two different reporting agencies?

Can the CA open an account with Equifax, and then close that account and then open another account with Transunion?

The OC posted the original account to Equifax. Then the CA for the OC posted another account with Equifax. Then closed that Equifax account and opened another account with Transunion. All for the same account. So it's actually listed three times, but one with the OC and then twice with the CA (one account closed Equifax, and one account opened with Transunion). I verified the debt with the CRA and it came back verified.
