You need to go in today ASAP. Ask for the Manager and explain you would like to opt the extended payment program. As long as the loan is stil current you can envoke the EPP program. If it is past due (tomorrow) you will have to pay in full :(

That is so typical of them to say that. I just got updated information from an Advance America employee who said the EPP is offered to clients who have reloaned 180 consecutive days. Here is some more information.

Some states may vary on the EPP terms. They may require you to have the check returned before they make a deal. I suggest you call the Branch Manager and straighten this out today.
If you default then collection practices will begin. You need to talk to another associate in that branch and get the a better answer on this. Maybe someone who lives in ohio will be along to advise on their experience with Advance America.

The problem is that the EPP is for PDL's. In Ohio, they are now offering an installment product with different regulations. Also, the only deviation for an EPP for CFSA members is where the state has "tougher" requirements for payment plans.

I know AA started offering the Line of Credit in some states. This is supposed be to less in finance charges and more flexible terms of repayment. If the OC has the Line of Credit then they may have to negotiate other forms of repayment. Best of Luck!
PDL's
Good Morning,
I am also in trouble with PDL's and it is ruining my life. I am bound and determined to get out from underneath them this year so I can finally have a full paycheck. The bad thing is my husband has no idea that i've gotten us into this mess and I hate keeping it from him. I have 7 pdl's and I live in NC. I already am aware that pdl's are illegal in NC but it won't stop collection agencies from coming after me. So far, I 'm not behind on any of them because they debit them from my account on payday. My next payday is the 27th and I have put a stop payment on all the pdl's coming out. I am going to close my account but I wanted my direct deposit from work to go in and I also have filed my taxes, which will also be direct deposited in the next week.
I contacted Langhorne Friday and spoke to a really nice man who made me feel more comfortable about getting out of debt. Has anyone dealt with this company? Their fee seems reasonable....heck, anything is more reasonable than what I am paying. I'm paying over $550 every two weeks on finance charges alone. I will be paying $200 a month to Langhorne and they will deal with all the creditors so I don't have the hassle.
Another problem I have is that I have a woman who continues to call me from Lawal & Associates saying that I defaulted on a pdl from Sagamore. I took a loan out with Sagamore in March of 08. The loan was for $200 and they continued to take out finance charges without paying down the loan like all the other pdl companies do. I finally stopped that ACH from coming out of my account. I ended up paying $480 on a $200 and they are telling me that I owe over $500 on this loan. I have all the bank statements to show what they took from me. Can this Lawal & Associates garnish my wages? I've already paid Sagamore more than I should. I'm not quite sure how to handle this supposed "Law Firm". I have a pdl with Speedy Payday Loan right now too and they have just been taking out the interest as well. I've paid over $1,000 just in finance charges on a $300 loan. Can they do that legally? I listed that with Langhorn as one on my pdl debts but I've alreay paid them too much!!!
Any advise on this boad would be greatly appreciated.

Have you sent letters telling them that they are illegal and that you request a refund for the amount of overpayment? I had 5 PDLs and I have already gotten 2 letters stating that my loans were paid in full (PIF).
If you've closed your account...you're on the right track. The other thing you could do is have that account left open and have it a Deposit Only account until your tax refund goes through. have your employer send your pay to your new account. File complaints with your state Attorney General's office. You can't be taken to court for illegal PDLs. They have acted illegally and you have probably paid too much already.
I haven't had any experience with Langhorn, I've read here that most people have had negative experiences with them.

You PDLs in NC are illegal...I got a lot of help from this site!
List the loans you have, the amount you borrowed, the amount you paid.
Be sure to list the company.
Close your bank account. Send a letter stating that they are illegal and you have overpaid (if that's the case).
if you have not overpaid you need to set up payment arrangements.
pdl's
Thank you for all of your advise. I work for local government and I really don't want these people contacting me at work. So you are saying to close my account and leave it open for deposits only, will that actually work? I still have some checks out there that need to clear. I know that I have already overpaid Speedy Payday loan....should I just disregard giving them anymore than I've already given them. They claim it is just the finance charge I've paid but I've paid over $1,000 on a $300 loan. They taken enough!!!! I don't even have addresses for some of these companies. I was told that these companies won't even negotiate a settlement with me until the loan falls into recovery. Would you suggest doing it on my own or going with a debt consolidation company. I really don't want to have these people bothering me at my job, I've invested too much time there.

Is there a sample letter somewhere that I can send to these companies without being too threatening? Has anyone out these in NC gone through this?
