I was served a summons in the State of Washington (Seattle) for a debt. The server gave me a form to sign, stating it is an acknowledgment that I received the summons. I was quite nervous, but now I am thinking it could have been something else. I didn't look at it close enough because I never really had to deal with anything like this.
It says I have 20 days to respond. I'm worried about what I signed now...Could the server have lied?
Could this have been a judgement by consent? Would I be required

Was the service made by a sheriff? If so, the sheriff probably wouldn't be trying to trick you, they're just doing their job.
You can always go to the courthouse and ask to review the case file, then you can see what you signed.
Otherwise just follow the instructions on the summons. You will have to file an answer or appearance within 20 days or else they can get a default judgment for your failure to respond.
Hi
No he wasn't a Sheriff.
Yeah I felt pretty dumb about it. I haven't had to deal with anything like this before.
The guy had it covered up and said "Here sing this, it says you have received the summons."
I called the court and nothing had been filed as of a few days ago. I sent a validation letter off, so we will see what happened.
Any thoughts on what it could have been? What kinds of things would they try and get you to sign? I am sure I would have heard something from them by now.
Oh yes, he did say I would get a copy sent to me as he was walking off.

Sometimes they send just the summons and then they have a certain amount of time to serve you with the complaint. So keep your eyes open for it. You pretty much cannot answer a summons without a complaint because you don't know what they are suing you for.
What information do you have with what they provided to you?
I will be back on tonight.
