I live in the state of Florida and took out a $300 payday loan with Sandpoint Capital on October 3, 2008. I have paid them $450 to date and want to know if I can send them a letter asking for a pif? I feel I have satisfied my debt with them. Can anyone tell me if this is the case based on Florida laws and if I should be entitled to a refund how much? I have already blocked any debits from them as well as their affiliate Clearwater Bay Marketing. Any quick advice is greatly appreciated because the next debit is due to occur this Friday!

i agree guest.unless you put a hard block on your account they will find a way to debit.also they won't agree that they are illegal(which they are).just know that anything they say or threaten they cannot do.try sending the letter first,if they get snippy file AG,and FTC complaints against them.

I just put a block on their debits this morning. The only problem with closing my account is that I have had this account for 16 years and have a good relationship with the bank. My husband's paycheck is directly deposited into that account and I have other ach payments for my car, insurance etc that come directly out of that account. I have already reported them to the State Attorney's office in my state and am sending the letter today. I just do not want them calling my job, my home etc. I did tell them to only communicate with me via email and USPS in the letter that I wrote but if they are illegal what is going to stop them? I just do not want a big hassle. I am not behind in the payments but after finding this forum I realized that the amount that they have received from me has already paid them off and then some.

It all depends on the PDL. Some back down very quickly and you never hear from them again.

Others insist you owe and then back down once a complaint is made with the BBB and the state AG.

While are others are ruthless and call your job and home many times a day and make threats.

I would just be prepared for the worst. Since they are illegal they also use illegal tactics to try and collect.
