I received a message from this woman who did not give her name but claimed to represent "The Offices of Elizabeth Whitehurst" like a few days ago on 1/22/2009 @ 2:34 PM (EST) it displayed on the caller id 877-800-8170 (NOT_AVAILABLE). She left a message on my voicemail that my attorney or I needed to return the call today on a "serious matter" but she did not specify on the voicemail what this "serious matter" was. She also indicated that I needed to return the call immediately like "today." The message she left was very rude. She needs to seriously learn some telephone etiquette.
She left her direct telephone number 877-800-8170 Ext 718 but not name.
When I returned the call, she stated that I supposedly owe on a payday loan that was taken out in October 2004 in which the bank name had changed from name to another. She also tried to verify my email address and the last 4 of my social security number in which I did not confirm to this ill mannered woman.
I asked this woman what company was she calling for and she was condescending to me asking me do I not speak/understand English because I did not answer her questions. She was talking like a mile a minute real fast. She talked to me like (I was stupid and I told her that I am smart and am college graduate. She told me that because I am college graduate that does not mean that I am not smart. I told her that I am smart.
She got sarcastic with me so since you are so smart then she will put a warrant out for my arrest for alleged check fraud. She cut the conversation short and abrupt stating to me "have a nice day" and abruptly hung up on me.
I blocked this woman's telephone number. I have tried to search for the company on various websites using the telephone number reverse search but no results. I even tried the bbb.org website and received no information what whatsoever. I am believe that company is a scam.
I have never received any written documentation indicating that I allegedly owe on this payday loan taken back in October 2004.
If you are a legitimate place of business why wouldn't you give your company name and your name for that matter.
I will be reporting this "so called company" to the Attorney General and the bbb.org. That is uncalled to make such threats on the telephone.
I have no idea where this "supposed" company is located like what state or type of location which is very strange to me.

To Guest.....Just so you know.....This woman had a clear voice with no trace of an accent whatsoever but she was very rude and demanding. I am not worried but I thought maybe or perhaps that someone else had possible dealings with the "so called" shady company! :roll: :?: :!:

This person that called me wouldn't even give me the company name she was working for...she did scare me, but after I thought about this I feel that this could be a scam because when you file bankrupcty the creditors have 30 days to dispute if they don't well then it is a discharge of debt. So, once I hear back from the BK trustee then maybe I might turn around and go after her

Received a phone call from this "company" last night. Called them back to day only to be told if I didn't pay the matter would be taken to court and a warrant persued for check fraud.
The funny thing is, when they were telling me I owed them money I let them know that if I owed it I had no problem paying. However, they wanted me to pay the money all today. Chances are, if they are calling me I don't have the money to pay them.
Anyone know what steps that they take from here?

they'll just keep calling because they are a bottomfeeder that more than likely is collecting a debt that is either paid or doesn't exist.i wouldn't talk to them again if i were you.just hang up.
