i got my first call from allied interstate about less than a month ago
and they told me about an outstanding balance from Sallie Mae that is valid, and i was told i would be taken to court. For fear of legal action i paid a small amount of money from a prepaid card. I had a feeling that they were a little "different" so i asked for a mailed copy of their customer policy and the gentleman on the phone said "why don't you go to(he said some website, i couldn't understand) so that you can save me a headache".
from what i have heard here i decided to stop paying them until i know better. did i make the right move?

Allied interstate is described as a "class action suit waiting to happen." They are a huge nationwide collection agency with untrained personnel. I sent them a validation letter like the one found on this site and I never heard from them again. Do not make yourself easy pickins' as that apparently is what they go for. Send them a debt validation letter as allowed by the fdcpa.
