any advice on how to reply? The letter was one from this site stating they are not legal in calif. and they have been paid there principle.

I can't tell you whether to do consolidation or not since you can probably deal with pdls yourself without adding a consolidator's fee to your expenses. But remember, collectors are paid on commission and internet payday loan collectors are notorious liars to scare and harass people into paying them.

(They have to be or they couldn't get anything. An illegal lender can't very well sue you the way a credit card company or other legitimate company could.)

I would make sure you bank account is secure or they will continue to debit your account.

I would send the letter again and file complaints with the BBB and the AG.

Most illegal PDLs ignore the letters or send responses like that back. Most don't take notice until they can't debit your account.

I have no experiance with PDL consolidation. I have heard some say it is good while others state they really don't do anything other than take your payments and hold them until they can pay off the PDLs in full or for an agreed settlement amount. They charge a fee for this service.

i agree, first make sure your bank is securebecause they will not stop debited ever. blocking them will not help (a hard block on the account will but blocking them as a company will not).
but first, where are you located? how much is owed and how much did you pay back? these loans might not even be legal and all you might owe is the principal but i do not know this as i do not know where you live. we can help you properly if you answer those questions.

I am in california, I did not ask for a consolidation, thats just what the letter said.It made no sense plus the subject line was regarding my "fax" I didnt fax anything I emailed. I was lucky, I read a lot of what was on this message board and contacted my credit union. They were great, the guy that helped me said he was all to familiar with what these companys do. He closed my account and put an alert on it so when they try to debit the closed account it will bounce back and no fee for me. He opened a new account, he said he had to make sure there was no way to link the old and new accounts. It took a day but he did it, I have emails from the other depts. ACH/New acct/ direct deposit/ stating they understand my situation and the acct. has been closed and they will not be able to make any withdrawls on it. The guy that helped me said they have had to help a lot of members that get caught up in the PDL "hell". I am so happy I got someone so helpful. Turns out they even have there own loan up to 1500 that you pay back over 3 months.Total for that loan is like 30 bucks. Wish I would have turned to them first. Sorry got off topic kinda. So not sure how to repond to the email they sent. Basically all I got out of it was they would keep trying to debit my account. The rest made no sense because I didint ask about payments or consolidation.
