Hi Kim Welcome to the forums. Creditors are always worried
Hi Kim
Welcome to the forums.
Creditors are always worried if they don't get repaid or if they don't hear from you for a long time. You need to make them believe that you will honor the settlement agreement. Otherwise, they have the legal rights to take any type of actions against you.
Talk to your lenders and express your honesty in paying the debt. Explain them of the present situation and that you have considered professional help to repay the debt. This will make them feel better. Make sure that you call them first before they first place the call to you. Keep your communications with them open and answer their questions with positive attitude.
If you communicate with your creditors at the quickest time, the chances of garnishment get slim and this also reduces the risk of selling your accounts to outside collection agency. It is easier to work with the creditors than working with outside debt collection agency.
In short, you have a better negotiation situation with your creditors before they can bring any legal actions in place.
