While reading the Cinncinnati bizjournal...I see that UNIFUND has expanded their business. They're now into debit cards & buying govt. bad debt. That probably will help them to keep breaking the law in their collection antics. The govt. is probably bending over backwards for them, once they buy the govt. debt.

With a weak economy tempering growth, one of the nation’s largest purchasers of consumer debt has turned to debit cards and mortgage defaults as areas for expansion.

Rising unemployment and stricter standards on home-equity loans are pinching collectors by drying up major sources of cash for debt repayment. Lenders rely on ARM vendors to clear their books of bad accounts, so weakness in that sector causes problems for all financial companies.

btw...I got my check, last week, from them for their illegal collection practices. :)

I got a check from them years ago for pulling my credit without any permissible purpose. My bk was discharged and they had nothing on file...and yet they pulled my credit 3 times. Their attorney was a sweetheart..very easy to deal with and got my check pretty damn quick.
