Took out a payday loan from ACE Cash Express about 2 months ago. Didn't have enough money to pay as my wife lost some of her wages so I put a stop payment on the check. They kept calling me to threaten me. They called my references and gave them all my private information even telling them how much I owe.. They are threatening to call my supervisor even referred to her by name. I am not sure how they got that name. Is there anything I can do to prevent them from calling my supervisor and other co-workers. They threatened to call all my supervisors to 'verify employment'.

I am in Ohio. Its a storefront lender. Loan amount is 912.50

normally when you take out a loan at a store front they ask you your direct supervisor's name, you might not remember them asking on the application. ACE is a tuff one to deal with, best thing you can do is call their Corporate Office and work out a deal. They will tell you they won't make payment arrangements, but they will. Stick to your guns, come up with a plan and pay them off ASAP. Good Luck Reny

Good advice here-also, if it does get ugly, I would say something like "Calling my supervisor means I could get fired, and then noone, least of all you, is going to get paid, since I won't have a job". Common sense would dictate that. Trust me, they want to get paid, so if they are smart, they wouldn't do anything to jeopardize that.

I suggest you keep in constant communication with the store's supervisor directly. This may help in eliminating those pesky calls. Be straight with them and give them your repayment proposal that is affordable to you of course. Maybe try giving them a status update every week to help in stopping the collection calls. Ace Cash Express is very LEGAL and can take you to small claims court. I suggest you contact the corporate office and propose a a payment schedule. Hope this helps, best of luck! :)
