Even legally there is a time frame to these things and you even threaten to put harassment charges on them if they are after you too much.
Stay out of discussion with them in general.

Just so you are not continually getting phone calls, I would suggest that you send the collection agency a "cease and desist" letter requesting that they stop calling you. The agency is legally required to stop calling if you make the request. Be sure to send it "certified, return receipt requested", which provides you with proof that they received it. That will cost you just over $5.00, but it will stop the phone calls. They can continue to send collection letters.
The main thing is to NOT acknowledge the debt. Asking them to stop calling does not acknowledge the debt. You are just asking that the phone calls cease.
